  • Vol. 1 - File No. 926.--Fowler vs. Poage's executors. Andrew Fowler complains that for his services in Braddock's war he was entitled to 400 acres on Big Sandy, in this State, for which John Poage, deceased, agreed to give him 200 acres, originally entered by George King, between the 14th and 16th mile trees, in Jennings Gap, and by King assigned to Poage, and by Poage to complainant, on 14th July, 1775. Poage obtained the 400 acres, but gave Fowler no title to the 200, but he has sold it to another, leaving Fowler to the charity of a generous Country, or the exertions of a son. Orator lost his two sons in the war.

Information on John Poage

Some sources claim that John Poage married Mary BLAIR (who supposedly married a Crawford beforehand), daughter of Alexander Blair and Jane Preston Scott, but it appears that this is incorrect, based upon other researchers information, and the fact that Mary Blair, who was born abt. 1735 would have had little time to have had a prior marriage to 1751.
