About John McCutcheon

John McCutcheon was born 1 March, 1755 in Augusta County, Virginia and died 15 June 1841 in Davidson County, Tennessee. He was the second child of Samuel and Elizabeth (Fulton) McCutcheon and grandson of John McCutcheon known as "tree John" because he died from a falling tree. John McCutcheon is said to have served under Campbell at King's Mountain, as did many men from Rockbridge County. In 1840, at the age of 85, he applied for a pension for this service. John Married Agnes Porter 17 Dec. 1789 in Rockbridge County, VA. John and Agnes moved to Davidson County, Tenn. in 1790. They were probably buried on their land on or near Otter Creek Road.
