Facts and Events
Name James Albert Alexander
Gender Male
Birth? 16 May 1892 Geneva, Geneva, Alabama
Marriage Abt 1928 Californiato Edna Mary Calderwood
Death? 17 Aug 1959 Kerrvile, Texas

Information is from his sister, my mother, Sarah A. Turner, Jeanette A. Jones, neice, and Linda A. Hahn, a granddaughter.

His birth certificate was lost in the Geneva, Alabama flood of 1928, according to Linda A. Hahn's letter of Aug 31, 1993. She said that on all official papers he was known only as Albert and he was called "Papa" by the children. She said that her Uncle Earle, step-son to Albert, was the one person in the family who was interested in keeping up with the relatives and that he got information from "Uncle Buck"'s daughter. I believe that Uncle Buck was C. A. Alexander of Montgomery.

Linda's family information is from Earle and Buck's daughter, apparently, except for her current knowledge of family.

He married Edna Mary Calderwood Mitchell, a widow with one child, Earle Gonzalez-Mitchell. Linda tells me the name was Americanized to Mitchell. His death certificate, Kerrville, Kerr Co., Texas, was probably filled out by Edna, his wife. It says that he was b 5/16/1892, was a Studio laborer at Universal Studios for 30 years or more, in the motion picture industry. He served in WWI as a Private in the Army with the 35th Engineer Battallion in Europe.. He died of Adenocarcinoma of the prostate and was in a Veterans Administration hospital in Kerrville, Texas before his death. He is buried in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Kerrville, Texas .

This last information is from his death certificate. The name of his father is incorrect (Cullen O. Alexander) on the document, no doubt given by his wife.

Military Service:He served as a Private in the Army from 5/25/1918 until 8/1/1919. His social Security Number was 558-22-1961. His serial number of his discharge papers were SN-3 129 788 C-20 905 685.
