Acquisition of Land from Chalkley's:

• Page 48.--11th April, 1746. Francis McCeon (McCune, McCewn), yeoman, to Hugh Martin, yeoman, £15 current money; 227 acres, part of a large tract of 728 acres belonging to McCewn patented to him 13th August, 1743, on Tee's Creek. Witnesses, J. Buchanan, John Hawkins, Henry Downs, Jr. Acknowledged, 14th April, 1746, when Margaret, wife of Francis, relinquished her right of dower.

• Page 160.--17th February, 1748. Benj. Borden to Hugh Martin. Corner John Buchanan. (Note: this patent is apparently for the 250-acre tract shown in the Hildebrand Map, shown above).

• Page 202.--22d September, 1750. Same (From Francis Beaty) to Hugh Martin, 112 acres same place as above. Teste: Robert Backenridge. (Note: this record is listed immediately after a similar record, on the same day, of Francis Beaty conveying 359 acres "on Mud Lick Run on a branch of Roanoke called Goose Creek, near an iron mine" to a William Martin (possible sibling?)).

Hugh Martin to Mathew Harper, £80, 200 acres, part of 1415 surveyed for William Henderson and conveyed to John Henderson, and from him to Mathew Harper, Mathew to John Henderson, from Henderson to Hugh Martin, on Christian's Creek; corner Thomas Rutledge's land, crossing Black's Branch. Teste: John Handley and Archibald Handley.
