• Vol. 1 - MAY 17, 1774. - (450) Constables: James Montgomery, John Thompson and Henry Penninger.

• In 1779 General George Rogers Clark, commanding an army composed partly of men from Western Virginia, captured the British Fort at Vincennes, Indiana, and General "Mad Anthony" Wayne captured the British post at Stony Point, New York. The tide of the war had began to turn in favor of the Americans. In that year Henry Peninger was indicted by the Rockingham court for "speaking disrespectful and disgraceful words of the congress and words leading to the depreciation of the continental currency". [Citation: "The Brake Family of West Virginia"].

• Vol. 2 - Delinquents, Augusta County Levy for 1779: Henry Penagor, Jr., Robert Paton, gone. (Note: likely the son of this Henry).

• Vol. 2 - 1779--March 23, Relief of Rachel, wife of John Cash, a soldier. Henry Penninger bound to Grand Jury for speaking disrespectful words towards Congress and the Currency.

• Vol. 2 - 1779--August 23, Henry Penninger informs the Court that Gerard Erwin has propagated news tending to raise tumults and seditions in the State; bound to Grand Jury.

• Page 151.-(16th August, 1780. Recorded. Peter Hole's estate)- Above estate settled by Peter Hole, executor--Paid Peter Smith, George Puffenberry, John Argon, Henry Penegor, Samuel Grotrix. Settled 16th August, 1780.

Notes

9 Aug 2001. Family members from nine different states attended the Fleisher Family Reunion on 7 July 2001. The family members visited the gravesite of Henry Penninger. The gravestone indicates a date of 1815 for Henry's death but he made a will Henry died in 1815 but he made a codicil to his will in 1820, so 1820 is probably a better date. Henry Penninger was the father of Catherine Penninger who married Henry Flesher of Pendleton County. The children of Catherine Penninger, Conrad, Henry John, William and Andrew had descendants in attendance. Some of the states represented at this reunion include Ohio, Kansas, Tennessee, Connecticut, Louisiana, Georgia, Colorado, and Missouri. Henry Penninger's gravestone had washed out from it's original in the flood of 1985. The farm had been located in bottomland near the South Branch of the Potomac River.
