Henry Boss was a soldier in the Revolutionary War, he probably served in Virginia where he lived before moving to Georgia. Henry and Christian are believed to be brothers and they married sisters. Nicholas Boss was also a possible brother, as the three lived in Wilkes County at the same time. Henry Boss was in Wilkes County by 1797, in that year he purchased 270 acres of land on the Soap Creek from John and Lucy Mullins for 30 pounds. This land was part of an ordinal land grant to Nathaniel Blackburn granted in 1786. The deed for the property was witnessed by John Baker and registered on November 24, 1797.
