First son & third child of Thomas & Abigail Webster was named George, after his maternal grandfather. Born in 1670 in Northhampton, the family moved to Northfield while George was still small. The Indians attacked Northfield when he was 5yr. & the family returned to Hadley for the next 5-7yrs. His father died when he was 16(1686).
At age 25(1695), he married Sarah Bliss in Springfield, MA. Their first child was born in Springfield in 1696. Then they moved to Northampton for the births of the next 4 children. Around 1699 the new town of Lebanon in New London county CT was being laid out. George was granted a 'home lot' bounded on the NW by the land of his brother, John. Other tracks were set off to him in 1700 & 1701 and still another recorded in 1718 (he was buying land) He & Sarah were living in Lebanon by 1705 and the last 8 children were born there. He died intestate in 1721 age 50yr 5mo 5da leaving Sarah with 13 children.
Williamantic County Probate records state that Letters of Adminstration granted to Sarah on July 4, 1721 on the estate of George Webster, late of Lebanon, deceased. On Apr 22, 1724, Sarah, widow of George Webster, was appointed guardian of 2 boys & 2 girls (Benajah, Joseph, Jerusha, Mary). Samuel Webster, eldest son of George, was appointed guardian of George, Noah, Ebenezer, Sarah, Zurviah, the older children of the late George Webster. Court appointees appraised the estate & ordered it divided between the widow and all 13 children.
Four years later, Sarah Bliss Webster married again on 14 Dec 1725 as the 2nd wife of Capt. John Marsh. She raised the children in Lebanon and presumable died there.
