John is the 2nd son & 4th child of Thomas & Abigail Webster. He was only 14 when his father died. It looks like he and George stayed at Northampton until they moved to Lebanon. He married Elizabeth(last name unknown) date unknown.
The Webster Genealogy has two different birthplaces for John's children. On p.40 is says only one child was born in Northampton and the others in Lebanon. On p.74 when discussing those children it says all were born in Lebanon. So it is unclear when exactly he and Elizabeth moved from Northampton to Lebanon. But for certain, he had been buying up land in Lebanon & was there early enough to be considered 'one of the first settlers', so it was about 1700.
His wife died in 1709 and he married again to Grace Loomise in 1709 in Lebanon and he died in Lebanon in 1735. He & Grace had no children. No record of his either of the wives deaths, but he is buried in the old cemetery in Lebanon. Grace is the daughter of Deacon Joseph & Hannah (Marsh) Loomis.. a descendant of Joseph Loomis, one of the early arrivals in America & founder of a large & prominent family. There is a Loomis Genealogy. John & Grace had no children.
Land Records show that at the meeting of the original proprieters of Lebanon, Dec 1697, John Webster was designated nine acres and 3 yds. Also a 'home lot' of 15 acres was set off to him next to his brother George. Several other land records indicate John had more land laid out to him. His will in 1735 lists his descendants as John Webster of Lebanon, Thomas Webster of Hebron, Josiah Webster of Lebanon( his 3 sons) & Elizabeth (husband Jedediah)Strong and widow Grace Webster(his 2nd wife) of Lebanon.
There is no mention of his military service in the Webster Genealogy, except for his title of Captain. Most likely he fought in with the town militias against the Indian attacks.

(1) Elizabeth _____, m. (2) Lebanon 4 Aug 1709 Grace Loomise. [Note: the date of 11 Sep 1672 is based on Source:Northampton, Hampshire, Massachusetts, United States. Vital Records, 1654-1872, p. 13. As can be seen, 9 undated births are listed following a record dated 11 Sep, including John Webster's. Since this many births is about half the births in the town in 1672, it is ludicrous to think that all these births happened on 11 Sep, hence it is a misinterpretation to assume 11 Sep applies to the 9 undated records, and hence the dated birth record, on 26 Feb 1672, presumably promoted to 1672/73, is the more authoritative.]
