Jonathan, third child & 2nd son, of George & Sarah Webster, born 1700 in Northampton but moved to Lebanon when he was a small child. Jonathan Webster was one of the founders of the church in Goshen Parish in Lebanon in 1729. He married Mary Strong about 1724. She was the daughter of Josiah & Joanna (Gillett) Strong. Jonathan died at age 45 in 1746.
His will begins "he being sick" & is found in the Willimantic County Probate records. The following bequests were made: To his wife, one-third of the estate. The rest to son Jonathan, son Israel & dau Mary, and constituted his brother, Pelatiah Webster of Lebanon as sole executor, provided that when Johanthan be of age he be joined with Pelatiah as executor. The estate was inventoried at 934 pounds, 4 shilling and 9 pence. Mary, his widow, is mentioned as late as 1756 in Lebanon records.
Children of Jonathan & Mary, all born in Lebanon, continues in Chapter 7 p.118 *David b.8 Apr 1725 d.2 Jan 1727 The End *Jonathan b. 26 Feb 1727 m. Dorothy Hills in 1748. They had 7 sons: all born in Lebanon and baptised at Goshen Church: Jonathan b.1748--James b.1751--David b.1754--Israel b.1756--William b.1758--Zenas b.1760--Benoni b.1762. His wife died in 1762 and he married in 1763 to Ruth Holdridge. They had 7 children all born in Lebanon & baptised at Goshen Church: Ruel b.1764--Gershom b.1765--Laban b.1767--Dolly b.1769--Molly b.1773--Ruth b.1775--Aaron b.1778. Jonathan died abt. 1783 in Lebanon leaving 11 sons to carry on his Webster line. These sons are continued in Chapter 12 on p.269. Most of these Great Grandchildren of George's fought in the Revolutionary War. Many stayed in Lebanon, but others moved on to Vermont, New Hampshire and western New York (Renscelaer, Columbia, Otsego, Chautauquea counties). These 11 sons had some 37 sons who are continued in Chapter 24 p.558 & Chap 54 p.1096 *Mary b.14 Dec 1729 m. David Roberts in 1745. *Abigail b.12 Feb 1731 d. prior to 1746, as she was not mentioned in her father's will. The End *Israel b. 18 Jun 1735 d. 24 Oct 1755 at Lake George( age 20) in his Majesty's service for the French & Indian War. He served in Capt. Ebenezer Leach's Co in the 4th Reg. of the Colony of CT., as a private for 6wks & 3da and his wages were 2pounds 1shilling & 11pence. His will said that his sister Mary should get his mare, his brother Jonathan his coat and jacket, and the rest to his mother. The End
