Samuel is the second child and first son born to George & Sarah Webster. He was born in Northhampton but the family moved to Lebanon when he was a young child. He married Anne Marsh in 1722 in Lebanon, CT. He is mentioned in many early land transactions of the town from 1719 to 1735. Church records show Mrs. Sarah Webster united with the 1st Church of Lebanon in 1722 & he joined in 1735. Samuel & Anne would raise their children and live their whole lives in Lebanon as would several his siblings.
In 1732-3 Samuel inherited land from his father's estate. Jonathan, Pelatiah, Noah, Jerusha, all of Lebanon sell to our beloved brother, Samuel land of our honored father, George Webster, late of Lebanon.
Death records for Samuel & Anne have not been found. They were alive as late as 1757 as evidence by various land records. Samuel and Anne only had 4 children, only one son, named for his father, but he died young.

Because of domestic troubles it is said that he changed his name. When this became known to Sarah Webster, she refused to live with him. At length she relented and they were married under his true name of Abijah Martin. Their home was in Bethlehem, a hamlet of Woodbury CT. In the French & Indian War, Abijah was taken prisoner and was given up for lost. "Twice she married him and twice she mourned him". She moved to Peachum, VT where she lived to nearly 90yrs, dying in 1819 in Peachum. Three of her sons were in the Revolutionary War, two enlisting from Bethlehem, CT.
