Facts and Events
From the May 1, 1942, edition of the Dubuque (IA) Telegraph Herald Frank Anglin Maquoketa, Ia. -- Special: Funeral arrangements were completed Friday for Frank Anglin, 44, who committed suicide Wednesday night at his farm eight miles west of Otter Creek. The last rites will be held Saturday morning at 10 o'clock at St. Lawrence Church at Otter Creek with the Rev. E.W. Loosbrock, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body is at the home of his brother, Vincent Anglin at Otter Creek. Mr. Anglin ended his life by hanging in the machine shed of his farm, according to Jackson County Coroner John Tilton. Despondency over ill health was given as the reason for his act. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Anglin and was born Feb. 23, 1898, in Jackson County, where he spent his entire life. He was married Oct. 14, 1925, to Agnes Laughlin, who survives with four children: John, Doris, Carl and Joan, all at home; his mother, Mrs. Hannah Anglin of Dubuque; five brothers, Jerry of Maquoketa, Lee, Christ and Vincent, all of Otter Creek, and Leonard of Dubuque; and two sisters, Mrs. Thomas Ryan of Otter Creek and Mrs. James Cowan of Dubuque. His father preceded him in death. Image Gallery
