Alphonso Vachon’s Father Succumbs - Funeral To Be Held On Monday Morning – Interment At Yoder – Ellsworth Vachon, 61, of New Haven, father of Alphonso Vachon, this city, died this morning at 1:30 o’clock at his home. He had been at the point of death for three weeks. Two years ago Mr. Vachon was in an automobile accident in which a truck ran over his legs. Paralysis developed, causing him to lose the use of both legs. He had been virtually an invalid since the time of the accident. His condition became more critical when dropsy developed. He was born in Yoder, his parents having moved to that community from Quebec, Canada. Since 1912 he had resided in New Haven, where at one time he held the position of chief of police. Thirty-nine years ago Mr. Vachon claimed in marriage Miss Mary Nusbaumer, who survives. The ceremony took place in Yoder. Children who survive are: Mrs. Joseph Gabet, Mrs. Leo Vodde, Mrs. Walter Schroeder, Loretta, Fred, Robert, Charles, all of New Haven; Mrs. Arthur Girardot, Fort Wayne, and the son Alphonso, in this city. There are two brothers, Zach Vachon, of Seattle, and Richard, of Yoder. Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 9 o’clock at the St John’s Catholic church in New Haven. Interment will be made at Yoder. Evening News- Banner Jan 24, 1930 page 1.
