Ebenezers Grave site is in the Bowdle-Morrison Graveyard just outside of Chillocothe OH. Ebenezers headstone has been broken off and the foot stone and the headstone base have been removed from the site. The headstone was found laying flat on the ground and sunk into the same during a visit to the Graveyard in July 1991 by his 3rd Great Grandsons Marty Fenimore from Longview Washington and Dale Fenimore from Dayton, OH. Ebenezers father Ebenezer left him all residual land after a specific legacy given to brother Henry in his will dated April 12, 1841. Other members of the Fenimore family are reported to be buried in the same cemetery however those headstones may have been some of the ones that have been removed sometime in the past. Just before Ebenezer died his father had passed away giving him his farm to Ebenezer Jr. and Ebenezers brother Henry as a joint inheritance. This farm was 284 1/2 acres and was located next to son Henry's farm. Ebenezers coffin cost $8.00. When Ebenezer died the appraisers of the estate (each were paid $1.00 each for their services) allowed the following to be taken by the family to sustain them for each year with a value of $219.00: 148 stocks of corn valued at $100.00; 39 bushels of wheat valued at $42.90; Eight hogs valued at $30.11; One Red Heifer 2 years old valued at $12.00; one cupboard valued at $6.00; one clock valued at $7.00; and one bureau valued at $1.00; and $40.00 in cash. Also not deemed assets so allowed to be given to the family before assessment of the estate were the following: one cow, five sheep, one stove, three beds with bedding, books of less than $50.00 in value, all cooking utensils, one table and six chairs, all cupboard ware necessary and all of the family clothing. The following items were sold at auction of Ebenezers farm which was at 10:00 am on the 10th of November in 1854 in Union Township in Ross Co., OH: 1 2-horse wagon, 1 4-hours wagon, one cart, one gold finder plough, one western splitter plough, one albright plough, one brown mare, one two year old colt, one suckling colt, one old bay horse, two shovel ploughs and one steel shovel, one spike harrow and double and single truss, 2 sets of gear and harness, 136 shocks of corn, one bunch of old gear, one young spotted cow, one red heifer 1 year old, one brindle steer one year old, one white bull one year old, 16 feeder hogs, 16 stock hogs, 4 stacks of hay, one red bull calf, three bees caps, three each of shovels augers and sickles, one stone hammer and cutting knives, one hand saw, one moving scythe with two blades, one mans saddle and 1 womans saddle and two riding bridles, one undivided half of thrashing machine, one log chain, two set stretchers for single tees, one cross cut saw, one log of thrashed oats around 15 bushels, two stacks of clover seed in the straw. All was valued at $783.35. He had notes owed to him of $119.66. The estate received $609.25 for the auction. Ebenezer also had a small store and contracts for shipping on flatboats on the Scioto River. According to records they would contract to get produce as far as the OH river. In 1843 shoes in Ebenezers store cost from $1.50 up to $1.75. A barrel of flour ran $3.25 and a pound of tobacco was 12 1/2 cents. The 1850 Federal Census for Ross Co., Union Township shows Ebenezers farm valued at $5000.00. It lists him as 48 years old and a Farmer. Burial in Bowdle-Morrison Cemetery, Chillicothe, OH LDS Film #0281637-028639. The Marriage License Register dated 8 Aug 1822 has the names spelled as Ebenezer Finnemore and nancy Mowbray. The Marriage Certification entry dated 10 Aug 1822 by Justice of the Peace A. Robertson shows the spellings as Ebenezer Finimore and Nancy Mowbray. The 1860 census records show Nancy working at the age of 59 as a farmer and head of household farming land valued at $1500.00. Herpersonal estate is worth $425.00. Only Nancy and son Aaron are listedin the same household. Nancy was the 642nd home and 635th familypolled for the Census. This record is listed on page 91 for the UnionTownship, Ross County, Ohio Census taken on the 12th of July in 1860in the Post Office area for Frankfort, Ohio. Nancy is listed in the 1850 Ross County Federal Census as age 48 Female with value of the Farm at $5000.00 and that Nancy was born inOhio. Marriage: LDS Film #0281637-028639.
