- ↑ Although his obituary gives his birth place as Lincoln, Nebraska, and his death record reports Nebraska, evidence seems to suggest that he was born in Michigan. The 1885 Nebraska state census reports his birth place as Nebraksa. Henry Whitmore purchased his Nebraska farm from his brother in December 1882, which suggests that he and his family made the move some time after Earle's birth in 1882.
