Documentation of DANIEL'S life begins on 10 May 1837, with the arrival of his family in New York City, from La Havre, France. He was listed as 6 years old.

He was no doubt named for his father Daniel, which was common practice among his related family members. The family must have been Palatines. It is not known why they emigrated.

There is controversy over what became of Daniel. Some data suggests he was married in Wabash, and moved to Kansas. So little evidence exists, that so far no proof has been found.
