ELISABETH first appears in American documents with the arrival of her family in New York City, on 10 May 1837. They sailed on the ship "HILAH" from La Havre, France. She was listed as 11 years old. She was probably born in the Palatinate.

Her tombstone at the Urbana Cemetery has not been found.
