Facts and Events
Name Appolonia Lower
Gender Female
Birth? 1818 German State
Marriage to Philip Mohr
Death? Est 1859

Appolonia arrived in New York on the ship "Hilah", from La Havre, France, on 10 May 1837 (surname spelled: LAUER). The "Tuscarawas County Marriages" 1808-1844 has a listing for: "Philip Moore & Opel Lower" on 22 Nov 1838, which matches other data. However, we think Philip spelled his surname: MOHR.

Appolonia appears in the "Zion's Kirchbuch" (Jefferson Township, Tuscarawas County, Ohio) regarding the baptism of two of her children. This was the German Reformed half of the joint congregation with Lutherans. [ surname spelled: LAUER ]

It appears she and her husband migrated later to Wabash County, than most of her family, as some of her children were born in Ohio after her parents migrated to Indiana.

St. Peter's Church in Urbana has a record that the trustees of the new congregation, bought Lot No. 1 in the new town of Urbana from "Philip and Eprona Moore" in 1857. At that time the family lived on Section 12, just west of Urbana, and her brother Adam Lower lived in the adjacent Section 11.

She probably died during the birth of her daughter Catherine in 1859. St. Peter's Church records do not begin until 1861, so there is no record of her death. Neither she or her husband are listed in James Haupert's "St. Peter's Cemetery Records".

Some documents exist that indicate that her son Philip Mohr, moved back to Tuscarawas County, and married a Kiefabber girl there, and had several children, several of whom may be buried in the Stone Creek Cemetery.
