Acquisition of Land from Chalkley's:

Will of Conrad Peterfish
- In the name of God Amen, I Conrode Pietefish of the county of Rockingham, State of Virginia being weak in body, but of sound and perfect mind and memory or you may say thus, considering the uncertainty of this mortal life and being of sound mind and blessed be to Almighty God for the same, do make and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following; that is to say, First I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Catharine, first the Chest and whatsoever therein is, and all the Books that are in the House; and all the Hemp and Flax that are in the house; now further my said wife is to have possession in the house where I now live in, until such time as my son John Pietefish builds my said wife such a house that she is satisfied to live in; further my said wife is to have two milk cows, and hay and fodder sufficient to keep them found by my son John; and ten bushels of wheat and Four bushels of corn per year; and one Shote in the spring or One Hundred weight of Pork per year, and she is to have the garden where I now in possession, and privileges of the orchard for the use of apples, further my said wife is to have the Third part of my moveable Estate and the money that is to be collected and the notes and bonds that are out; and the other two parts to be equally divided between my two daughters, Katy and Mary Pietefish, excepting the Twenty Pound Bond is to be divided between my two said daughters.
- Further; do I give and devise to my elder son, John Pietefish his heirs and assigns, all that my Messuage or Tenement situating lying and being in the County of Rockingham, State of Virginia. Together with all my Freehold Estate, whatsoever, To hold to him the said John Pietefish, his heirs and assigns forever, such as lands deeded and patented and houses which I make to him, and to each of them or their heirs and assigns forever. This my last will and Testament, hereby revoking all former wills by me made. In Witness whereof I have set here unto my hand and Seal the Twenty-Second day of December in the Year of our Lord, one thousand seven Hundred and Ninety-five

Valentine Pence's estate to Peter Miller, executor--Paid Henry Long, who married one of Valentine's daughters, her legacy; paid Jacob and Adam Pence, their legacies; paid Jacob Nicholas as exla of Mathew Sharpe. Received from Conrad Peterfish, Jno. Counts, Christian Teter, Jacob Moyer, Christopher Reisling, Nicholas Null.

Information on Conrad Peterfish
- Conrad Peterfish immigrated to America on 2 November 1752, entering through Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania, on the ship, Phoenix. He was one of 208 male passengers. He was able to sign his own name, rather than making his mark as some of the other passengers did.
- Conrad was a paid soldier from Augusta County, Virginia, in the French and Indian War. On May 29, 1767, he purchased 86 acres of land on the north side of the Shenandoah River. His largest known land purchase was made on November 2, 1768, for 177 acres in Augusta County. On August 6, 1789, he purchased an additional 11 acres. According to Virginia Valley Records by Wayland, in 1790 he owned 266 acres in the 12th Military District.
