Facts and Events
Catherine Anna Crandall is listed as "Catherine" in the 1850 and 1860 Ohio Census Records but then she is listed as Annie in the 1870 Ohio Census. According to Jerry Crandall Gard, the Miracles eventually settled in Ritchie County, West Virginia. A small mystery is solved or at least it was a mystery to me. Recently have been corresponding with James Miracle who has done lots of research on the Miracle Family of PA, OH & WV. On a hunch I E-mailed James with a query about Anna Crandall married to Unknown Miracle. I was pleasantly surprised when he provided me with the answer. It was then I discovered that I had been duped by the old name switch-e-roo that occurs in the Census Records. I have always been told that TBC & EAG had a daughter named Anna. However, the 1850 and 1860 Ohio Census Records list a daughter named Catherine then in the 1870 Ohio Census Catherine disappeared and Anna/Annie appeared. So now know that Catherine Crandall and Anna/Annie Crandall are one in the same person. |
