  • (P.351) 5th June 1774, Elizabeth Armentrout's Will, widow. -- to son Philip --, to children living, being six in number --, to grandsons, Henry Armentrout and John Armentrout, sons of her son John, deceased.
Son Henry Armentrout and Fredrick Harris (Hain, a son-in-law) are indebted to her.
Teste, Gabriel Jones, John Rush and (a German).
Proved 20th June, 1775 by Jones & Rush.

Information on Anna Elizabeth Hain

Anna Elizabeth Hain came to America aboard Ship Samuel, landing in Philadelphia, PA 27 August 1739. She arrived with her seven children and settled in Berks Co., PA. She moved to Augusta (now Rockingham) Co., VA with her sons Johan Phillip, Johan Frederick, Henrich and George in 1753.

Anna was the sponsor of her grandaughter, Mary Margaret Ermentraudt (daughter of George Armentrout) at Peaked Mountain Church in 1763:

Baptism: Mary Margaret Ermentraudt; 5 December 1763, Peaked Mountain Church - Anna Elisabeth Ermentraudt (Grandmother), Sponsor.

    2. Frederick Hain married Anna Elizabeth Ermentrout, born 1719 in Germany.
    3. Johan Philip Ermentrout, born 1721 in Germany; died 6-1791 in Rockingham County, Virginia. About 1745 married Elizabeth, born 1725, died 10-7-1795; buried in Cemetery of Peaked Mountain Church, McGaheysville, Rockingham County, Virginia. He is reported to have been a stone mason.
    4. Joh. Frederick Ermentrout, born 1723 in Germany; died 1792. Married Catherine Hedrick, daughter of Jost Hedrick.
    5. Christopher Ermentrout, born 1725 in Germany; died 1806. Married 1760, Susanna Galet Power, a widow and daughter of John Gallett.
    6. John Henry Ermentrout, born 1727 in Germany. Married Magdalena Power.
    7. George Ermentrout, born 1729 in Germany. Married Barbara Friedel.
