"Anna's parents were Johann Gresser and Philippina Bingert; they emigrated from Schneckenhausen, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany - CFS 1997 conversation with great, grandson, Larry Gresser.

"Anna Maria Gresser was Baptized on Sep 18 1858 at Most Holy Redeemer RC Church on East 3rd Street, Manhattan; sponsor was Anna Maria Possang. May 1997 letter from MHR indicates that her parents, Johann Gresser and Philippine Singer (sic), were from Schneckenhausen, Bavaria; Anna was born on Sep 2 1858.

"According to Germans to America, Vol 4, pg 274, the Gressers arrived in NY on Feb 3 1853 aboard the SS Zurich which had sailed from Havre; Johann was 31; Philippina was 23 .

"Death Certificate (#16325, Bklyn, 1894) for Annie M. Schretzmann indicates that she died at home (12 Morgan Ave) at about 7 AM on Sep 29 1894; age 36 and 28 days. The certifying physician indicates that he began treating Annie on Jul 5 1894 and that she died of Pleuro pneumonia and asthema after an illness of about 3 months. She was interred in Calvary Cemetery on Wednesday, Oct 3 1894. The certificate indicates that she had been a resident of Brooklyn for 7 years, that two families lived in the house, and that Anna and Franz lived on the 3rd floor.

"An interment listing from Calvary Cemetery indicates that Annie is buried in Sec 6, Range 4, Plot O, Grave 15. Her sister, Barbara, her parents, and four of her children are also buried in this gravesite. There is no tombstone or marking at the grave - CFS/1998 visit. "
