From the research of Charles Schretzmann found at: http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/s/c/h/Charles-F-Schretzmann/GENE1-0020.html Johann Gresser and Philippina Bingert emigrated from Schneckenhausen, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany - CFS 1997 conversation with great, grandson, Larry Gresser. "According to Germans to America, Vol 4, pg 274, the Gressers arrived in NY on Feb 3 1853 aboard the SS Zurich which had sailed from Havre; Johann was 31; Philippina was 23." Death Certificate (Man, 1882, #421143) states that she died May 2 1882 from Plethisis Pulmonalis (sp?) at about 6AM, after a year long illness. She and the family were residing at 53 Pitt Street, a four story building with 17 families in it. Her age was 57 yrs and 26 days (making her birth date Apr 6 1825); death certificate indicates that she was buried in Calvary Cemetery on May 4 1882. Interment listing (3/20/98) from Calvary Cemetery states that she was interred in Sec 6, Range 4, Plot O, Grave 15 on May 4 1882 at age 57; this gravesite (graves 13-16) was purchased by Stephen F. Gresser (Philippina's son) on May 4, 1882. As of Mar 20, 1998, there were 26 individuals interred in this grave; there is no tombstone or other marker over the graves. - CFS Submission: References
