BERNARD, Iowa - Amelia M. Bruck, 88, of Sunset Park Place, 3730 Pennsylvania Ave., formerly of Bernard, died at 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 1, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque. Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Sept. 5, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Fillmore, with the Rev. Douglas Loecke and the Rev. Donald Bruck concelebrating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Fillmore. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Reiff Funeral Home, Cascade, where there will be a wake service at 4 p.m. She was born on May, 9, 1920, in La Motte, daughter of John C. and Kathryn (McCarthy) Regan. She received her education in the La Motte area schools. She married Cornelius "Neil" Bruck on Jan. 22, 1946, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in La Motte; he preceded her in death on Jan. 5, 2008. The couple farmed in the rural La Motte and Bernard areas. She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Fillmore. Amelia was a homemaker and a very loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved gardening, cooking, going to dances, listening to music, fishing, playing bingo, euchre and lucky dice. She enjoyed working her seek and find puzzles and was an avid reader. Surviving are seven children, Susan Bruck-Powell, of Dubuque, Tim (Betty) Bruck, of Cascade, Tom (Bonnie) Bruck, of Zwingle, David (Mary) Bruck, of Denison, Ken (Marilyn) Bruck and Dennis (Kathy) Bruck, both of Dubuque, and Ruth (Joe) Sieverding, of Bellevue; 25 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; five siblings, Margaret (Gene) Stillmunkes and Monica Hoerner, both of Zwingle, Pauline Takes, of Bernard, Agnese (Joe) Hayes, of Cascade, and Julien (Shirley) Regan, of Dubuque; sisters-in-law, Joyce Regan, of La Motte, and Natalie Regan, of Grand Mound. She also was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Paul Bruck, on Feb. 1, 1976; a son-in-law, Arthur Powell; a great-grandson, Matthew Karl Bruck; two sisters, Rita Regan and Catherine Kemerer; and three brothers, Jack, Fred and James Regan.
