    Excerpts
Alexander Henderson was born in 1716 and died 13 February 1796 according to his tombstone in the Henderson Cmetery, located on the farm of Beverly Miller, Doty Lane, Garrard County, Kentucky.

He married Jean or Sarah Wallace in 1733 in Virginia. She was the daughter of Andrew Wallace and MArgaret Woods of Albermarle County, Virginia. Both the Wallace and the Woods families were outstanding in the early history of Albermarle County. Sarah Wallace died in 1788.

Alexander Henderson was a Scotch-Irishman. He lived to be eighty years old. He spoke in broken English, owned several salves and was a Presbyterian of the strictest kind.

A will for Alexander Henderson probated October, 1796, is recorded in Bourbon County, Kentucky. The will lists the following children: David, Jean, Joseph, John, Samuel, James, Daniel, Robert, George, Florence and Alexander. Records of some of these children are found in Bourbon County and some in Garrard County.

Alexander Henderson first lived on Owl Creek near Alexandria, Fairfax County, Virginia about 1730. Next he moved to Albermarle County where he purchased 400 acres of land on Lickinghole, which he sold in 1779 and moved to Augusta County. From there he moved to what is now known as Mason County, Kentucky, then to what is now known as Garrard County, Kentucky.

The Henderson home place is located two miles from Paint Lick, Kentucky, on the Old Railroad. There have been three houses built on the land. The first was log and was about one-fourth mile back in the field. The second was build to the right of the present house or where the garden is now located. The present house was built in 1870 by John R. Henderson and his Mother, Elizabeth Noel Henderson. This house was remodeled and three rooms added in 1952.
