Next step: Review your GEDCOM [12 January 2012]

You're not done yet!

WeRelate is different from most family tree websites. By contributing to WeRelate you are helping to create Pando for genealogy, a free, unified family tree that combines the best information from all contributors.

Now that you have uploaded jousma.ged, your next step is to review what your pages will look like, review any potential warnings, and combine (merge) people in your GEDCOM with matching people already on WeRelate. You need to review your GEDCOM before it can finish importing. We will keep your GEDCOM in the queue for two weeks to give you time to review it.

Note: if your gedcom contains many errors or multiple families, we’d ask that you resolve and correct the errors, delete this gedcom and re-submit it without the errors before merging it with families already on WeRelate. If the gedcom is very large, we’d suggest breaking it up into separate files (or families) and importing them one at a time, which makes the review and correction process easier.

Once you have finished your review and marked your GEDCOM Ready to import, one of our administrators will review your GEDCOM and finalize the import. This usually happens within 24 hours. You will receive a message here when the pages have been created.

jousma.ged [15 January 2012]

Hallo Wijtske, I see that you have uploaded a gedcom to WeRelate. The first step in processing a gedcom is reviewing the Warnings tab. Some of these are not errors at all (such as "husband and wife have the same surname"). However, some are valid errors that should be corrected on your home genealogy software first. For example, Lieuwe Broers died 4 Feb 1794 (not 1749). This one small typo causes multiple "husband died more than nine months before child was born" errors. After you have reviewed the Warnings and fixed them on your home computer, you can reupload your gedcom to WeRelate.

After your gedcom is uploaded again, I can give you further instructions for working on your Family Matches. If you have any questions at all, or if you would like help in Dutch, please leave a message at Help:NLHelpdesk. Thank you. --Jennifer (JBS66) 07:26, 15 January 2012 (EST)

Gedcom [17 jan 2012]

Families with a missing spouse [20 January 2012]

Hallo Wijtske,

Sometimes when splitting an Aldfaer file, spouses are not included in the gedcom. When you have a moment, please take a look at these pages and these pages. If you know who the missing spouses are for these families, please do the following:

  1. Go to the family page and click Edit
  2. Click "Add a page for wife" (or husband)
  3. After the page for the spouse is added, save the Family page
  4. At the top of the family page will be a link that says "This page can be renamed". Click that link and rename the page (the title will be automatically added for you in the proper format).

If you have any questions, just let me know. --Jennifer (JBS66) 15:53, 20 January 2012 (EST)

Gedcom met 50'000 records. [30 January 2012]

--Klaas (Ekjansen) 12:03, 30 January 2012 (EST)

Renaming pages [7 feb 2012]

Hallo Wijtske, I see that you are adding husband/wives to Family pages (for example: Family:Unknown and Aaltje Krikke (1)). There is one more step to do after you add the husband or wife. See at the top of Family:Unknown and Aaltje Krikke (1) there is a line that says "This page can be renamed"? Click that link then press the "Rename page" button. That will rename the Family page so both spouses appear in the title. --Jennifer (JBS66) 13:12, 7 February 2012 (EST)

vriendelijke groet, Wijtske--Wijtske Jousma 02:29, 5 February 2013 (EST)

Zo nu is alles weer gerepareerd.--Klaas 04:38, 5 February 2013 (EST)
