Your Christopher Rink page [5 October 2012]

That page is crazy-good - did you really just join werelate? --jrm03063 11:01, 5 October 2012 (EDT)

Thanks for the encouragement. Been researching for 20 years, but just joined werelate. I'm trying to follow practices I see on other pages, but I'm still figuring things out.--SCR2005 17:54, 5 October 2012 (EDT)

Really? Well, you're moving fast! --jrm03063 18:24, 5 October 2012 (EDT)

Gil [8 October 2012]

I have to say you are doing an excellent job. May I suggest that you/we remove the Gil Leach MySource reference from those persons you have done? As you know Gil has essentially the same sources as you so the MySource that I originally used is, in effect, duplication. SOURCES are preferable to a MYSOURCE.--HLJ411 21:04, 5 October 2012 (EDT)

I see what you're saying. I removed Gil's document from Christopher. I suggest we keep his document on Conrad (1), because he has so much unique information that my sources do not duplicate. It would be nice to credit Gil when possible, since he has done so much for Ring family history projects over the last couple of decades.--SCR2005 16:39, 6 October 2012 (EDT)

About Gil, I agree whole heartedly.--HLJ411 14:43, 8 October 2012 (EDT)

Some added goodies... [11 October 2012]

It appears that, for your Christopher Ring/Rink page, you know some geographic locations with fair certainty. That can be turned into good GIS numbers using a tool like this mapper. When you have GIS information, we have nice ways to handle that. For example, my Grandfather was born on the family farm. You observe, that Christopher's Farm was located north of Route 308 between New York 9G and Pilgrim's Progress Road.

As an added bonus, use of the googlemap template in a fact description field, will cause the werelate map generation tool to use THAT GIS value instead of the central value for the selected municipality. I use this for things like known locations of schools, workplaces, residences, and for improving the precision of burial locations within cemeteries.

I've added what seems like an appropriate fact for this. Hope it's helpful! --jrm03063 12:36, 10 October 2012 (EDT)

Thanks for the tip! I had it on my list to figure that out, but you saved me the trouble. :-> I will give it a try for other locations in my pages.--SCR2005 12:58, 11 October 2012 (EDT)

You're very welcome! --jrm03063 15:30, 11 October 2012 (EDT)
