    Roane County I Tandy Senter of the County and State aforesaid being of sound mind and memory have (thought it ) proper to make and publish this as my last will and testament in order to dispose of such worldly substances I have been blessed with hereby revoking and making (void) all former wills heretofore by me at anytime made.
    First my will is and I hereby so direct that all (obligations) justly living by me and funeral expenses be paid by my executor hereinafter named as soon after my (demise) as may be convenient out of any moneys that I (may) die peopled of or that may firsc come into his hands from any portion of my estate.
    Secondly, I will and bequeath to my beloved wife Alice Senter two negroes, my man Boweman(?) and his (wife) Keasibhink(?) also one horse beast, one cow, one bed, (bedstead?) and furniture, one walnut chest, one table, one set of knives and forks, one set of plates, and tea cups and (saucers). One set of chairs, one axe?, 1 Matloct?, one Lrlocd?, (one) of g?? together with one years support which I (am) laid off for her out of my personal estates.
    The property herein given to my wife all except the negroes (I) allow her to select that may suit her best out of the property I may die seized and possessed and when selected for her that together with the negroes above named and years support I give and bequeath the same to her (absolutely) to dispose of as she may choose to her and her heirs forever.
    Whereas heretofore I advanced to my children by (my) first marriage the sum of Two hundred and fifty dollars each for which I took their receipt expressing that the same was the full amount of their (distributed) share of my estate except an interest in my negro, Lewis which I at that time owned and agreed (with) them if he survived me that he or his value was (to) be equally divided amont them and whereas I (have) sold said negro, Lewis at the price of four hundred dollars. Ch??? I give and bequeath to the children (of) my son, Stephen Senter, deceased the sum of forty dollars in full of their or their fathers distributive share of (my) estate.
    To the children of my deceased son, James Senter, I give the sum of forty dollars and to the children of my deceased son, Martin Senter,, I give the sum of forty dollars and to the children of my deceased son, Seburn Senter, I give the sum of forty dollars, and to the children of my deceased son, William Senter I give the sum of forty dollars and (to) my daughters, Mary Godard, Lucinda Rice, Susannah (?) Louisianna (??) King and Margaret L. Eason I give the sum of forty dollars each to them and their heirs forever (whereas?) is in full consideration of the price of said negro boy, Lewis and in full consideration of all that I allow them or either of them to have of my estate and in the case of the death of either one of my daughters leaving children in that event the children or child if not more than one to receive their deceased parent’s share.
    Fourthly, I give and bequeath to my daughter, Catherine Crow my negro girl named Sarah to have and (hold) as her own and her heirs forever.
    I give and bequeath to my daughter, Elizabeth Mee my negro girl named Mariah to her and her heirs forever. I give and bequeath to my daughter Minerva Margrave my negro boy named John to her and her heirs forever. I give and bequeath to my daughter, Martha W. Barnett the sum of five hundred dollars in cash to her and her heirs forever. I give and bequeath to my daughter Alice J. Graves the sum of five hundred dollars in cash to her and her heirs forever.
    It is my will that my land, horses, hogs, sheep, cows, (household) and kitchen furniture and negro children if any, and farming utensils after my wife making her selection as aforesaid be sold by my executor on (the) premises at public auction after giving thirty days notice by written advertisements posted up at (???) five of the most public places in Roane County (?) to be at the court house in Kingston upon a credit of twelve month as an upon receiving the consideration for which the land and other property sells for my said execution is thereby authorized and empowered to execute and deliver to the purchaser (or) purchasers their heirs (?) title therefore with the usual covenants of warranty and out of the proceeds arising from such sale as soon as the same can be collected, I wish my executor to pay over to the several divisees(?) to whom I have bequeathed money the several bequests on to (such) of them who have failed to receive the amount given (to) them from some other resource of my estate and after settling all the foregoing specific bequests in money aforesaid my will is and I so direct it that the remainder be equally divided equally divided between (my) youngest daughters viz Catherine Crow, Martha W, Minerva Margrave, Elizabeth Mee, Nancy P Barnett, and Alice Graves, share and share alike and in case of the death of either one of daughters leaving (piece?) to children of such diceased to receive the parents share or whatever the parent may have failed to receive while living.
    I do hereby nominate and appoint my son in law W. W. Margrave, Executor of this my last will and testament, not requiring that he shall give bond and security for due execution of the same unless a majority of my other sons in law require it or until it shall be made to appear to the courts the estate was wasted or in danger of waste in his hands in testimony whereof I, Tandy Senter, this testar(?) have hereto set my hand and seal this 28th day of January 1853
