Sarah Irwin/Erwin Brown married 2nd) James Campbell. There are several references to Sarah in Court Records in what is now Davidson Co, TN following the murder of her husband John Brown on 20 Dec. 1794 by a band of Creek Indians. The Territorial Papers of the U S, compiled and edited by Clarence E. Carter, Vol. 4 gives the report of Gov. Blount to Washington's Sect. of War. Pickering, dated 9 Jan. 1795. Sarah married James Campbell before 25 Jul 1795, and at some point, they moved on to Williamson Co., TN in the part that later became Maury Co. where James died in Feb. of 1816. Sarah died before 21 Apr 1823 and her son, John Brown, from her first marriage was named guardian of his younger Campbell half brothers Wm. Harvey Campbell, Alvin Cook Campbell, and George Washington Campbell. See Maury Co., TN Wills and Settlements, 1807-1824 (Book B).
