Robert McCutcheon had migrated to the Calfpasture prior to 1748, as he was listed on the processioning list of 1748, listed below.

• Page 12.--17th May, 1758. Joseph Hanna and Ann to Rob McCutchon, £67, 273 acres on a Sinking Branch of the south side Naked Creek.

• Page 455.--18th August, 1761. Joseph Harman and Anna ( ) to Robert McCutheon, 68 acres on a branch of Naked Creek, half of 136 acres below said Robert's line, patented to Joseph, 12th May, 1759. Delivered: Benj. Estill, November Court, 1762.

Executors, son John, James Berry, Joseph Henderson. Teste: Jesse Davis, Joseph McCutchen, Mary and Jno. McCutchen. Proved, 26th January, 1801, by Davis and Joseph McCutchen. James Berry refuses to execute. Jno. McCutchen and Joseph Henderson qualify.

• MARCH, 1767 (A). - Ewing vs. Knight.--Argument between Charles Knight, schoolmaster, and subscribers. (1) He is to teach one year and have every other Saturday, or half of every Saturday, off. Report of Commissioners dividing land sold by Robert McCutchan to John Blair, and by him devised to his three sisters, Elizabeth, Mary and Jane. Elizabeth married Joseph Byers, Mary married William Long.

• Vol. 2 - 1799--March 11, Robert McCutchen and Timothy McNight and Wm. Morrison, sureties. Robert McCutchen and Mary McNight, daughter of above Timothy McNight. Robt. is son of Jno. McCutchan.

• 1801--February 28, William McKnight and Robt. McCutchen, surety. William McKnight and Sarah Meek, daughter of Daniel Meek (consent). Teste: Agness Meek. (Note: since this is after Robert McCutcheon's death, it probably refers to Robt., Jr.).

1.   It is said that about 1728, Robert McCutchen and his brothers came to the colonies from Glasgow, Scotland. Robert settled in Augusta County, Virginia. He married Margaret Callison. Her parents are unknown, but there were many marriages among the McCutcheons, Callisons and McClungs, all of whom settled in Greenbrier County, Virginia. The son of Robert and Mary McCutcheon, Jones McCutcheon , married the daughter of William “Grandfather Billy” McClung. Jones’ son, William Madison McCutcheon , born in 1802, came to Wirt County in 1852 at age 50 with wife Nancy Callison who was also age 50. They lived on McCutcheon's Run in the Spring Creek District of Roane County then Virginia. Barnabas (Barney) Hylbert who arrived either with them or shortly thereafter married their daughter, Mary. Another source refers to him as the Reverend W. M McCutcheon and says he came from Greenbrier County to Fayette County then to what is now Wirt County about 1845. He settled on what is now McCutcheon's Run, a branch of Left Reedy named for him. His son James later owned the farm and at his death, Guy McCutcheon became owner of this farm. He sold it to J. Clyde Law.
