Phillip Walter Rendell (Phil) was born in 1875 at Mortchup, Victoria and was married to Margaret Ellen Scougall in 1901 at Clifton Hill, Victoria. They had three children, Rita Maie b. 1902, Kathleen Phyllis b. 1904 and Leonard Rendell b. 1906. In 1903 Phillip is recorded as living at 190 Tennyson St, Essendon, 1904-5 at 806 Mt. Alexander Rd, Essendon, 1906-7 at 764 Mt. Alexander Rd, Essendon and 1908-11 at 5 Willow St, Essendon. He then appears to have left his wife and children as only Mrs Margaret E Amoore, Dressmaker is recorded as living there until her death in 1922. It seems that Phil lived with Mrs. Olive Haywood after he left his wife until he joined the AIF 6-7-1916 under the name of Haywood, served in France and died of sickness in England 3-2-1917.
