Henry Hastings (Harry) was born in 1872 at Chatsworth, Victoria and was married to Rose Emmie Birch at St. Matthew's, Prahran, Victoria on 19 Jun 1900. They had two children, Reginald Henry b.1901 and Albert Harvey b.1918. In 1901/04 he lived at 75 Perth St, Prahran and 1905 at 74 Nicholson St, South Yarra. In 1909, Rose petitioned for a Divorce, but it is uncertain if a decree nici was granted as they appear to have got together again for a while. Henry drowned in the River Torrens, Adelaide on 20 Jan 1939 and was buried in Mitcham Cemetery, Adelaide. He seems to have had a serious "alcohol problem", and had not lived with his wife for 12 years before his death.
