  2. Copied from a newspaper article that Marge Eaton had.

Nels Olson was not content with one fish pond at his home and has accumulated four more. The first was made from an old silo base out near the barns. Mr. Olson wanted one nearer his house which is one the hillside reached by a flight of stone steps, reminding one of the houses at Manitou, Col. Taking advantage of the hillside Mr. Olson built one fish pond level with the house grounds, then another lower down connecting with the first. Below that is another and still a few steps father down the fourth was built. They are of native stone and concrete and the water is pumped from a well by an engine to the highest pool and then filters thru to the other three. The op pool is used as a hatchery, and in the three other pools are about 300 fish. These pools are reached by native stone steps in concrete, and stone and concrete platforms are at each pool allowing plenty of room for viewing the fish and lillies. From the ground to the top pool is 35 feet. At the side of one of the pools is a milk house and built into its north wall is a recepticle for ice. The company here was treated to ice cold milk and also were given souvenirs of refrigerator thermometers with the compliments of the Kansas Power and LIght Company. Each guest was asked to register, as Mr. Olson keeps a record of all who visit his unusual home. A fireplace in the living room of the Olson home was built almost entirely of native stone from the Olson farm, Mr. Olson doing the work. the exception is the lone stone slab which forms the mantelpiece, which it was necessary to buy. The stones in the fireplace are of unusual shapes but harmouiously arranged. In the center is a stone shaped like a large baseball. Stones of unusual shape are to be seen everywhere. A fanciful arch of stones of various shapes is above the intrance to the milk house and a stone chair and seat invite one to rest an dview this unusal display of natures's handiwork.
