Facts and Events
Ruby Driskell notes say that Margaret died 7 Feb. 1871. This likely the results of two records using different style recording (2/7/1871 or 7-2-71; one reversing the order of month and day). Ruby noted that this family lived at one time in Armstrong's Valley, PA. Dan'l Braucht journal mentions visiting his brother-in-law Fleager in 1838 at Ft. Hunter in Armstrong Valley (Halifax Twsp, Dauphin Co., PA ?). There are likely many more details available on this family when time for research permits. Fetterhoff St. Peters Lutheran Reform Church records show Margreth Bracht, born Aug.19, 1820 was baptized April 22, 1821; Sarah Bauerman, godmother (notice that her sister Sophia married a Bauerman). This Margreth Bracht is certainly the same person as our Margaret Braught here. Fetterhoff Church records 1788-1854 are written in Olde German, but 1854 - 1903 records there are in English. 1860 Census of Warren Co., IA (White Oak Twp.) shows Andrew Fleager, Heat, 47, MW b. PA; Margaret, wife, 39, FW b. PA; son John B. 21, b.PA; Margaret A. dau 19 b.PA; Henry A., son, b. PA; Charles, son, b. PA; Charles, son, b. PA; Joel, son 13, b. PA. 1870 Census of Warren Co.,IA is a bit confusing on that list of childrens' names and birth years, particularly when compared to 1860 census used for list here. Apparently there is need for added verifications on this matter. In IGS Cemeteries and Deaths of Warren Co., IA p. 129 we find Inianola IOOF Cemetery record for Margaret, wf. of A., d. Jul 21, 1871, age 50y, 11m and same stone for Henry A., son of A & M. d. Jan. 7, 1863, age 20 y ed. d. and buried at Montgomery Point in the Army. Andrew Fleager is not listed in that cemetery. However, see Hewitt Cemetery for her stone there also with husband Andrew. There her stone dates are d. Jul 21, 1871, age 50 y. 11m. I have photo of those stones in Hewett Cemetery. |
