She attended Morris Normal and Scientific School 1890-91 and Northwestern College, Naperville, Ill., 1894-95. She taught public school five years. She was housekeeper for Joseph Marvick, 1899-1903, lived in Sisseton SD with her brother and his wife in 1904, and was housekeeper for her aged parents 1907-20. After studing art in Minneapolis 1905-06 and at the Art Institute in Chicago, 1915, she taught water color and China painting. She toured Europe from April to November, 1908. She was president of the Newera Literary Club 1913-16 and 1918-20, the first president of the Story City Circuit Woman's Missionary Federation 1920-23 and vice president of the Iowa District W.M.F. 1920-23. She was Mission Box Secretary of the Twin City Circuit W.M.F. 1928-32 and In Memoriam and Life Membership Secretary of the Story City Circuit W.M.F., 1933-38. For two years she was president of the Ladies Guild of Our Savior's Church, Minneapolis. Margretha compiled "The Marvick Family Tree" in 1941 with updates in 1947 and 1951.
