He attended Blair High School 1885-86, Luther college, Decorah, Iowa, 1886-88 and 1889-91, and Luther Theological Seminary, St. Paul, Minn.,1892-1895 C.T. On July 10, 1895, he was ordained to the ministry by Rev. O. P. Vangsnes in Our Savior's church, Minneapolis, Minn. He served the following pastorates: Momence, Ill., 1895-96, Omaha, Neb., 1896-99, Oakland, Cal., 1899-1902, St. Paul, Minn., 1902-04, Willmar, Minn., 1904-19, Story City, Iowa, 1919-27. He was Synodical Director of Elementary Christian Education for the Norwegian Lutheran Church of America from 1927-1933, living at Minneapolis, Minn. he was chairman of the following: Joint Com. Elementary Christian (3 synods) 1924, Intersynodical Conf. E.C.E. (7 synods) 1926, Catechism Com. (7 synods) 1929. He was associate author of "The Open Bible", 1918. On May 19, 1930, he was awarded the degree of Doctor of Divinity from Luther Theological Seminary for outstanding work in Elementary Christian Education. He was pastor at Huxley, Iowa, 1933-39. Due Due to ill health he moved to Story City, Iowa, November 1939. He died at his home Oct. 12, 1940, on his 69th birthday. Buried at Story City Oct 15, 1904. His funeral sermon was preached by Rev. W. B. Scarvie, who chose as his text Jeremiah 3:15.
