He attended Business College in Morris, Illinois. He was a farmer in Illinois ti l 1882, when he moved to Grand Forks, N. D. and later in 1887 to Story City, Iowa, where he farmed and was also in the grain and lumber business. He was appointed Street commissioner of Story City in 1887, later became a member of the city council and mayor of Story City for seven years. In 1921 he moved to Minneapolis. On March 15, 1928, he and his wife celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at their home in Minneapolis, with three children, three grandchildren, one sister and many friends present. (delete for book) His obituary in the Decorah Posten, 1 July 1943, read as follows (in Norwegian). Spent many years in Story City, Iowa at Tid B?ens Manor, when he died he was living in Minneapolis at 86 years old. His home in Minneapolis was 3220 10th Ave. So. Funereal to be held in Story City, Iowa. Survived by Miss Linnie Marvick, Mrs. Emelie House of Minneapolis, Albert M. of Chugwater, Wyoming and Albert M. (should be Seward Louis) of Ames, Iowa.
