G. H. Hathaway, who we reported very ill last week, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. C. M. May, November 3. In the death of Mr. Hathaway we have lost another of our oldest residents. He came to this community when in young boyhood and had resided here the remainder of his life. He had many friends who will sincerely regret his death. The funeral was held from what was formally the Methodist Church. The funeral service at the church was conducted by Mr. Beeny of Sheldon and the services at the grave were under the auspices of the Montevallo Masonic Lodge, of which he had been a member since 1910. This service was also conducted by Mr. Beeny, assisted by the members of the lodge. Mrs. T. W. Wallace, who was called here by the sickness of her father, G. H. Hathaway, departed for her home in San Antonio, Texas on Monday. Earl McNeese of the Butler CCC Camp was home Wed. afternoon to attend the funeral of his uncle, Mr. Hathaway.
