Elizabeth Preston's origins have yet to be established. Her first confirmed sighting is on 20th February 1770 when she married William Allen at Kirkby la Thorpe in Lincolnshire. Over the next eleven years they had six children baptised at Kirkby la Thorpe, although two of them died as babies.
Elizabeth's husband William died in 1782 when he was 37 years old. Elizabeth was left with four surviving children to look after, aged between eleven and one year old. Elizabeth married again eighteen months after William's death later to a David Procter.
Elizabeth and David went on to have another four children baptised at Kirkby la Thorpe between 1785 and 1788, including twins in 1788. Two of these children also died young, including one of the twins. The twins' baptism records that they were paupers. Elizabeth has yet to be traced after the burial of her youngest son in 1788.
