Facts and Events
From Robert Tevis (Tivis), His Parents, His Siblings, and His Progeny by Nancy Pearrer Lesure Delilah is not mentioned in Robert Tevis' will. Her existence is currently known only through the annals of the Porter family, but they are convincing. From them we learn that Delilah, daughter of Robert Tevis, married Adam Porter, son of Peter Porter, probably late in 1766 inasmuch as the first of their twelve children is said to have been born 5 Oct 1767. Mary M. Bell places her here in the sequence of Tevis duaghters on the basis of this approximate marriage date. Included among the seven sons and five daughters of Delilah and Adam were Robert Peter Porter and Pegga Porter. The couple moved to Virginia in 1784, first to Augusta County and later, after a visit back in Maryland in 1790, to Bath County, where they are said to be buried in a family graveyard.
