Ogemaw County Herald, West Branch, Ogemaw Co., MI "Mrs. Stephen Weigers who was a patient at Ford hospital, Detroit for several weeks, died Thursday night and the body was brought to the home here for burial. Funeral services to be held from St. Joseph's Catholic church Monday morning. Mrs. Weigers was 66 years of age and had been a resident of Ogemaw county for nearly 50 years. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Blanche Miller. Ogemaw County Herald, West Branch, Ogemaw Co., MI "Death Summons Catherine Weigers Mrs. Catherine Weighers passed away in Receiving Hospital, Detroit, on Thursday, Feb 17, 1927, as the result of pernicious anemia, following several weeks of observation and care from that cities best medical men. Seemingly in good health Mrs. Weigers was stricken with a paryletic condition of the limbs, from which her condition rapidly grew worse until death relieved her of her sufferings. During her life time of usefulness Mrs. Weigers was a friend to all. Old pioneers can recall instances when she walked miles to assist where there was illness; when she had given freely in an effort to bring cheer to the heart of someone. Her friendliness, courage, sympathetic, understanding and love of friends and neighbors are only a few of the attractions which have endeared her to all. Catherine Meir was born March 4th, 1860 in Formosa, Ontario, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Meir. At the age of twenty year she removed to Ogemaw county, where she was married in 1881 to Albert Steuernol. One daughter blessed this union. Following the death of Mr. Steuernol, the deceased was united in marriage to Stephen Weigers of West Branch, and assumed the care of the seven growing children, whose love and respect commanded the admiration of old and young alike. Those who mourn the loss of the tender love of a mother are the daughters, Mrs. Blanch Miller of Detroit, Mrs. John Scherlock of California, Mrs. Adolph Keller of Dayton, Ohio, Mrs. Mortimer Rady of Chicago. The sons Frank Weigers of Texas, Joseph Weighers of Hart, Michigan, and Eddie Weigers of Detroit. The funeral services were held from St Joseph church, Monday, morning, Rev. Fr. Hasenberg officiating. Burial was made in St. Joseph cemetery."
