Catherine Hutchinson was baptised on 6th May 1861 at Deptford Chapel in the parish of Bishopwearmouth and town of Sunderland, County Durham. She was the daughter of Mary Hutchinson, formerly Glenny, and her husband Robert Hutchinson, both of whom worked in the paper making industry. In 1869, when Catherine was eight years old, her mother died. Catherine appears in the 1871 census living at Walker Street in Sunderland with her father and siblings, and with a woman called Mary who is called Robert's wife, although they wouldn't actually marry until two years later.

Catherine has yet to be researched after 1871.
