Rome Daily Sentinel, 23 Mar 1944: PANTHER LAKE COUPLE OBSERVES 60th ANNIVERSARY / Mr. and Mrs. DeWitt [!] Potts Feted by Friends on Wedding Date Panther Lake, March 23-- DeWill Potts, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Fred Potts, and Cora Collins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Collins, now deceased, were united in marriage by the Rev. Jabez Ford, pastor of the Hillsboro Church, on March 21, 1884. Tuesday evening about 35 guests gathered in a surprise visit to help them celebrate this event... They are fortunate in having four of their five children living with them or close by. Frank Potts, principal of White Plains Post Road school and wife are those living away. Dennis D., Fred C, and Miss Ruth Potts reside at home and Mrs. Claud Bisbo lives nearby. Mr. and Mrs. Potts always attended the Methodist church. Mr. Potts was for many years justice of the peace and is known to his friends as "Judge Potts." They have a large number of cousins and many nieces and nephews.
