Oct. sess.; had Mary, b. 2 Feb. 1648, wh. m. 8 Jan. 1667, Israel
Chauncy
, the min. of the town; Sarah, 1 Nov. 1649; Josiah, 29 Jan.
1652; Isaac, 12 Mar. 1654; Jonathan, 20 Dec. 1655; Ephraim, 16
Dec. 1657; Patience, 2 Feb. 1660, Temperance, 17 May 1662;
Margery, 30 Nov. 1663, Benjamin, 2 Feb. 1666; and Elizabeth 2 Apr.
1668. He was a soapboiler, had good est. made his will 28 Sept. 1694,
and his inv. was brot. in Sept. of next yr. He names w. Margaret. and
all the ch. but Josiah, who had d. 1691, leav. wid. but no ch. Yet three
other s. Isaac, Jonathan, and Ephraim were also d. but to the childr. of
ea. was small legacy, direct by that instrum. bec. ea. f. had been portion.

1668; and d. 1694, prob. in Apr. certain. bef. 5 Nov. JAMES, Malden,
s. of the preced. perhaps was one of sev. grantees in 1685, for services
in the late Ind. war, of tract of 8 miles sq. in the Nipmug country; by
w. Hannah Whittemore, m. 15 Nov. 1686, had Hannah, b. 22 Nov.
1687; James, 28 Jan. 1689; by sec. w. Abigail had Esther, b. 5 Jan.
1691, misprint. 1692, in Genel. Reg. X. 163; Abigail, Aug. perhaps
25, 1692; James, again, 22 Oct. 1694; Joshua, 5 Jan. 1697; Caleb, 27
Apr. 1699; and Jemima, 4 Nov. 1702. One of these Jameses d.
Farmer says, 30 May 1695, and prob. it was the eldest, with error of a
yr. for the sec. James d. 22 Mar. 1726. JAMES, Reading, s. of Richard,
freem. 1691. JOHN, Watertown, a propr. 1636 or 7 says Bond. He
may well seem to be the man of Fairfield, buying ld. bef. 1653, perhaps
reaching that final resid. aft. a tempora. one at Wethersfield, and the
br. of Isaac and Caleb. By w. Grace he had Isaac, Sarah, and John,
