This Ordnance Survey map of 1900 from A Vision of Britain through Time locates all the original rural districts established in Wiltshire in 1894. In 1934 there were a number of mergers of neighbouring districts.
Marlborough Rural District was in the central part of the Wiltshire, north of Pewsey Rural District with Devizes Rural District, and Calne Rural District directly to the west. Cricklade and Wootton Bassett Rural District and Highworth Rural District were to the north and Ramsbury Rural District was to the east. Marlborough Rural District existed from 1894 until 1934 when it became part of the Marlborough and Ramsbury Rural District.
