About William Smith

This William Smith acquired a patent in Beverley Manor from William Beverley for 135 acres in 1739. He stayed in Beverley Manor until 1751 when he and his wife Jane sold his tract to Daniel Kidd. It is not clear where William Smith may have moved, since there were several early William Smith's in Augusta County at the time located in the Borden Tract, in the Calfpasture, Linville's Creek and likely other surrounding areas. He MAY be the William Smith who died prior to 17 August 1784, whose wife Jane was granted the administration of his estate in Chalkley's Vol. I records, but additional research is necessary to prove.
