Acquisition of Land from Orange County, Virginia Records:

• Pg. 265-268. Indenture 25 Feb. 1745 between Patrick Campbell, County of Augusta, Yeoman, and William Seayers of Orange... deeds of lease and release... payment of ₤41.13.04... for 463 acres, 1 rod, 13 poles... being part of 1,546 acres in Augusta County conveyed to the said Patrick Campbell from William Beverley, Gent., as appears by a deed 20th and 21st Feb. 1738... (signed) Pat. Campbell (Seal). Witnesses: James Patton, D. Buckhannan, Jno. Smith, Joseph Walker. Recorded Orange County, 25 February 1745. [Orange County Deed Book 9, pg. 28].

• Page 12.--14th October, 1751. Wm. Sayers of Craven Co., S. Ca., to David Miller, 290 acres, Buffalo Creek. Teste: Michael Finney, Geo. Wilson, William Carlile. (Note: this indicates that William Sayers had apparently relocated to Craven County, South Carolina prior to this date).

• Page 64. March 9, 1770. William Sawyers and Esther E. His wife, late Esther Crockett, Widow of Jacob Crockett, to John Crockett, son of Esther Crockett. 150 pounds. 180 acres. Witnesses: Samuel Ingham, Valentine Harman, Robert Doak, Arthur Campbell. (Note: this record lists "Jacob Crockett" as Esther's 1st husband, but other records cite him as "Samuel Crockett". Perhaps Jacob was a nickname?).

• Page 66. March 9, 1770. William Sawyers and Esther E. His wife, late Esther Crockett, Widow of Jacob Crockett, to Andrew Crockett, son of Esther Crockett. An undivided part of 1150 acres, patented to James and Esther Crockett.

• Page 67. March 9, 1770. William Sawyers and Esther E. his wife, late Esther Crockett, widow of Jacob Crockett, to Samuel Montgomery. 200 acres of land, being a part of the 1150 acre survey. Consideration not given. Witnesses: Robert Doak, Arthur Campbell, Anthony Bledsoe, Valentine Harmon.

• Page 16.--26th June, 1746. Robert Sayers, late from Pennsylvania. Will--Sons, William, Alexander; wife, Cathren; daughters, Margaret, Ann, Elizabeth. Executors, John Buchanan and Joseph Culton, Gent. (desiring Col. Patton to assist if he will grant me the favor). Teste: Jno. Buchanan, Wm. Adair, Francis McCown, Thos. Beard. Proved, 20th August, 1746, by all except Beard. Wm. and Alex. Sayers qualify executors 20th August, 1746, with sureties John Buchanan and John Hays.

• Page 196.--19th March, 1747. Benj. Borden, heir, executor, &c., to Col. Jno. Buchanan. Testator agreed in his lifetime to sell to J. B. £3; part of 98,100 acres, beginning on the creek corner to Jno. Edmiston; 100 acres. Witnesses, John Buchanan, Humberstone Lyon, William Sayers. Acknowledged, 19th March, 1746.

• Vol. 2 - SEPTEMBER, 1747. - Hughes vs. Sawyers and Cowan.--We jointly and severally promise to pay William Hughes, etc., for value received January 1, 1746, and when said money is paid, said Hughes is to return to William Sawyers one silver watch which he leaves in his hands to counter secure the aforesaid sum. (Signed) William Sawyers, James Cowan. Test, Andrew Kenny. Received from William Hughes, after the perfection of the above note, Capt. John Smith's note, payable to Patrick Dowdall, deceased, for £1, which sum I promise to pay said Hughes, or order, on demand, or return the said note. Witness my hand. (Signed) William Sawyers. January 1, 1746.
