- McFerren, William - born 1755 in York County, Pennsylvania; moved with father to Augusta County, Virginia, where entered service in 1776; moved 1777 with father to Washington County, Virginia where entered service; resided near Abingdon, Virginia, for abt. 35 years, thence to Rutherford County, Tennessee; moved in 1832 to Tipton County, Tennessee, where received Pension in 1833; married 2/1780 (wife mentioned but not named); resided 1833 with son-in-law mentioned but not named; last pension payment in file in 1841; surname also spelled McFerrin; query letter in file says soldier died 1845 in Marchall County, Tennessee; query letter in fole states soldier married Jane Berry; query letter in file in 1922 from descendant John B. McFerrin, Colliersville, Tennessee. F-S2791, R1682.
