William Goodman was baptised on 1st April 1799 at Willen in Buckinghamshire, son of Elizabeth Goodman, formerly Binks, and her husband Henry Goodman, a labourer. He had a brother, John, who was baptised on the same day. The parish records do not specify that they were twins and it was nearly five years since his parents' previous child's baptism, so it is possible that one of the boys was a couple of years old. William has yet to be traced after his baptism.
