Elizabeth Binks' origins are unclear. The age given when she died suggests she was born around 1761, whilst in the 1841 census she indicated that she was born in Buckinghamshire.

Elizabeth's first confirmed sighting is on 1st July 1787, when she married a labourer called Henry Goodman at Willen in Buckinghamshire. He was a widower, with three young children from his first marriage, to whom Elizabeth thus became stepmother.

Elizabeth and Henry went on to have another eight children baptised at Willen between 1790 and 1806, although at least two died as babies or small children, whilst another son died aged 22 in 1824.

Elizabeth's first known grandchild was born in 1825. She appears to have had at least 22 grandchildren born in her lifetime, although some of them died young.

Henry died in 1831, when he was said to be 83 years old. Elizabeth survived him by nearly twelve years. She appears in the 1841 census living with her daughter Ann's family in Willen. Elizabeth died in 1843, being buried at Willen on 2nd August 1843. Her death certificate says she was 81, whilst her burial record says she was 82.
