From Chalkley’s Augusta County Records:

• Vol. 2 - CIRCUIT COURT CAUSES ENDED. - Peter Brinkley of Wythe vs. John Vance--O. S. 5; N. S. 2--3rd June 1752, John Vance sold to Ro. Miller a tract of land now in Wythe, formerly Augusta, on Wm. Calhoun's Meadow Run, a branch of Reed Creek. Robert died intestate leaving Robert his heir at law. Robert Jr. on 9th March, 1784 sold to Walter Beaty, who on 2nd of December, 1785, sold to orator. John Vance is dead & a certain Jacob Vance, who lives out of the State is heir at law. Walter Beaty also resides out of the State. Bill filed 29th December, 1794. Answer of Robert Miller 1st April, 1796. Walter Beatey married his sister. Jacob Vance lives in forks of Saluda River, So. Carolina.

• Page 451.--15th November, 1752. Mary Noble's bond as administatrix c. t. a. of John Noble, with sureties Will Callhoun, Patrick Callhoun.

• Page 463.--10th June, 1752. John Noble's will. Wife, Mary. Son, Alexander. Land at Cripple Creek, at Big Spring. Son, James; son, Patrick; son, Ezekiel (infant). Daughter, Jean. Executors, wife, Mary, and testator's brother, James Callhoun. Teste: Wm., Patrick, Agnes Callhoun. Proved, 16th November, 1752, by Wm. and Patrick Callhoun, and executors qualified with sureties Wm. and Pat. Callhoun.

• Page 480.--16th January, 1753. John Noble's appraisement, by Robt. Norris, Saml. Montgomery, John Montgomery. Note of John McFarland, Joseph Crockett, Robert Allcorn, John Hatthorn, James and John Miller, James Callhoun, Nathaniel Welshar, Wm. Montgomery, Wm. Callhoun. To butter money, cash. Philip Snider's bond. Due John McFarland for 106 acres land at £5 per 100. Due to the remainder of land. William Callhoun, Widow Lukes.

• Page 438.--9th August, 1754. James Patton to James Willey, £87, 2,050 acres on a branch of Woods River called Criple Creek. Teste: Alexander Noble, William and Patrick Callhoun.

• Page 210.--11th September, 1757. Joseph Long's will--To son Samuel, tract at the Welch cabins; to son Henry, tract near place called Billar Spring; to son Joseph, infant, tract where testator lives; to son John, tract at the Big Spring known as Island Ford. (All these tracts now are in one, and these are appointed to divide, viz: Richard Woods, John Hannah, James Beats, James Alexander); to wife Anna; to daughter Agness Cohoun, 5 shillings; to daughter Gennet Long; to daughters Gennet, Elizabeth, Ann, Ruth. Executors, wife Anne and son Henry. Teste: John Long, Wm. Long, Thos. Stewart, James Alexander. Proved, 16th November, 1757, by Wm. and Jno. Long, and James Alexander. Henry Long refuses to execute. Ann qualifies with Richard Woods, Robert Young, Alex. Ritchey. (Note: Joseph Long was the father-in-law of William Calhoun).
